Data from Trendrr has shown exactly how President-elect Barack Obama connected to his audience during his election campaign. Since the start of August, his name was mentioned in close to 500 million blog postings, compared to 150 million mentioning McCain. On social networks, Obama gained 844,927 Myspace friends compared to McCain’s 219,404. On Twitter, Obama followers totaled 118,107 compared to McCain’s 4,942.
It seems clear that all political campaigns will start ignoring media trends at their own peril. (Source: ReadWriteWeb)
